Thanks to everyone’s support, our version of Weezer’s Undone (The Sweater Song) has been honored as the lead-off track on the latest Coverville podcast (episode #713 for future reference).  Coverville is one of iTunes highest rated podcasts and focuses on cover songs – a new rendition of a previously recorded song.  An extra special thanks goes out to Brian Ibbot, producer and host of the show who had nice things to say about us!

I had contacted Brian a week or so before the new Weezer album, Hurley, came out thinking it would be good tie-in for the show.  He liked it, but didn’t have a Weezer themed show in the works.  I guess next time I’ll know to send in stuff further ahead of time!

You can download and/or listen to the entire show here:

You should just be able to right-click and “save as” or click on it and let it play.

So I wrote and recorded a song in two days, well a demo version anyway.  See, there was this contest that I had no chance of winning.  A pastor in Texas wrote a book called The Naked Gospel.  As part of the book launch he had a contest for people to write songs based on the themes of the book.  It’s been going on for a year and is based on votes.  However, I entered on the last day and received a grand total of one vote. Yes, my own.  Funny thing was that I did not have the least amount of votes.  Apparently many people didn’t even vote for themselves.

So anyway, they are going to release a digital album from the top ten vote getting songs…plus one author selected song.  My long shot and only hope of getting on the album.  But regardless of whether or not the song gets selected, it was the impetus I needed to get my butt in gear and do something fun.  This is a much more “Christian” song than I’m used to writing, so bear with me in that regard.  I would have liked to get real drums on there, but because of time constraints, I ended up using programmed drums instead.

You can check out the contest at http://www.thenakedgospelproject.com/, or at least see what the top ten songs sound like.  Here’s mine:

Please God, Kill Me

Let me know what you think.

Thanks, Jason
